BLUE PORTS participated in the 8th Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum, held in Heraklion, Crete, on May 6–7, 2025 — one of the most significant events in the cruise and maritime tourism calendar. Hosted on Greece’s largest island and one of its most historic cruise destinations, the forum highlighted Heraklion’s growing role as a regional hub. With over 270 cruise calls scheduled in 2025, the port is fast becoming a key player in the Eastern Mediterranean.

At the Heraklion Port Authority SA stand, the Renewable & Sustainable Energy Lab of the Technical University of Crete (ReSEL@TUC) – as project coordinator- presented the BLUE PORTS Certification Scheme, highlighting its real value for the port sector and especially small and medium ports, in supporting their green transition.

The Forum attracted over 700 industry leaders, policymakers, port authorities, and tourism experts, offering excellent opportunities for networking and meaningful discussions on the sector’s most pressing challenges. The BLUE PORTS team also engaged with distinguished representatives including Mr. Manolis Koutoulakis, Secretary General of the Aegean and Island Policy and Mr Vasileios Mamalis, Executive Director of the Hellenic Ports Association. Their insights and commitment to sustainable port development added real value to the dialogue.
